Public images and source material
Public still images and previews include faint repeated diagonal domain-and-record-ID watermarks, plus a credit strip below the source image. These marks identify this archive’s display copy; they do not identify the original photographer or document author. Existing privacy redactions remain. Video and PDF downloads are unchanged.
Rights and permissions
Publication in this archive does not establish ownership of copyright in every underlying photograph, video, or document. The credit strip is an attribution marker, not a blanket copyright claim or license. Applicable exceptions and the rights of original creators continue to apply.
When quoting or sharing the archive’s original editorial work, credit Syria Field Files and link to the relevant page. For permission requests, higher-resolution material, corrections, or rights-holder inquiries, contact the archive. Include the record ID and your intended use.
Preserve context
When reproducing a display copy, retain the record ID and archive credit, identify any further edits or crops, and link to the source record. Do not present the archive’s caption as the original document’s own wording. Do not attempt to reconstruct protected private identifiers.
Versions and integrity
The publication log links to a dated manifest of supplied-source and public-copy hashes. These help distinguish file versions. A watermark or hash alone does not prove ownership, first publication, or the events shown.
